Namaskar! I am Garima Basnet, born and brought up in the soil of Mechinagar- 1, Gadagalli, Bahundangi, Jhapa. After completing my SLC from Kakarvitta, which I travelled from Gadagalli everyday, I came to the capital city for my higher studies and have been residing and working here since. Having completed my Bachelor's from the Institute of Engineering, Thapathali campus, Kathmandu, I am a licensed working Architect by profession. I have experienced Gadagalli in many shades; From the days we went to the local primary school Shree Krishna Prathamik Vidhyalaya- carrying few books on hand, and hiding them inside our shirts to protect them from rain- To not being able to go back home on vacation due to study or work commitment. From the flood days that washed away our road leaving huge crevices and boulders- To the days of wide black topped roads. From the days of waiting more than an hour (if we got lucky) for a single bus, that would stop on various stops, and mainly, half hour at Bahundangi- From missing many last buses to return home from my school North Point, Kakarvitta and staying at my friends instead, or travelling even by cycle- To the days of having choices of private vehicle and auto rikshaw. From having chatpatey hub at Gadagalli chowk with my contemporary mates- To meeting none during my visit to hometown, as most are committed out of village and abroad. If you are reading this, I would like to thank you for your effort to reconnect with the spirit of our beloved hometown. Let us keep the soul of our birthland alive.
